About S.K. Brookes

I opened La Bella Vita to engage more with the public, to empower other artists, and to elevate the conversation about art in this city.

I believe great art speaks truths we can all understand, and shares beauty that enriches our lives. It’s transformative and healing. I want to share that.

I’ve been an artist since 1992. I got my start in high end finishing and custom hand-painting for furnitures and the rest of the decor in my gallery. That taught me about depth, detail, and color, and gave me a command with materials. By 1999, I was creating work on canvas and board that was more expressive and less restrictive. My fine art career began and I’ve never looked back.

My most influential teachers have been Alex Chang Liu, Kathy Powers and Dean Schink.

I create and exhibit my work at La Bella Vita, but that’s just one aspect of this endeavor. I'm hoping to eventually curate and exhibit the work of other artists. I want to host events and artist talks. And I teach privately.

Ultimately, this gallery is a place of connection and opportunity. My mission is to share compelling fine art that touches and inspires you. Please visit and enjoy the conversation.
